Cork, no waste

Cork itself is one of the environmental protection materials on the earth - it is made by taking the bark from the cork oak tree. This bark will not kill the tree, but the bark will be regenerated again and again. Therefore, in this sense, it is hard to think of a more sustainable product. However, the cork's green certificate extends beyond this, because every cork bark particle removed from the tree will be used, and nothing will be wasted.

Cork bark has many different qualities - it is best to be extremely smooth and solid, while low-quality cork bark will become thinner and rougher. In short, high-quality corks are used to make natural corks for wine or bartop cork wine, as well as the residues in this process. Most low-quality corks are gathered into cork particles, which are mainly bonded together to make agglomerated cork products. (Agglomerated cork or other products, such as flooring or tableware).

Corks with stronger resinous properties removed from the upper branches and younger cork oak trees are made into particles, which are then heated and pressurized in an autoclave to release the resin, and the particles are bonded together to form an expanded cork (a 100% natural thermal insulation product) – in this case, the heat required for this process comes from the pruned branches of cork oak trees or waste particles generated during processing, So even that would not leave a carbon footprint.
